KAMAS & MARION
The Kamas Valley lies to the east of Park City and Jordanelle Reservoir. The rural valley with rolling hills is the gateway to the Uinta Mountains and encompasses the towns of Kamas, Francis, Woodland, Oakley/Marion and Peoa. Both the Weber and Provo rivers flow through the valley.
Kamas and the tiny hamlet of Samak (Kamas spelled backwards!) are truly the gateway to the 2M acre Uintah Mountains which offers camping, hiking, and fishing. This small town has retained its rural feel, though development pressure is mounting. Known primarily as a ranching and equestrian community, this small town offers several restaurants and shops and includes the Dejoria Center at High Star Ranch, which offers summer concerts on the lawn, the State Road Tavern, and indoor concerts through wintertime. The Chevron gas station at the intersection of the Mirror Lake Highway and State Road 32 is renowned for their donuts! To work of those calories, community trails for mountain biking and hiking meander along the east bench, and the valley offers broad vistas to the ski resorts to the west.
