MIDWAY
The charming town of Midway was originally settled by Swiss pioneers, which is reflected in the gingerbread architecture that prevails in this mountain hamlet. Homes in the heart of Midway are mostly historic and single family, with many built from pot rock, a unique geologic feature to this area.. This small town is home to numerous gourmet restaurants, quaint shops and a several lovely parks, including one offering an ice skating rink. Midway is bordered on its western boundary by the21,000+ acre Wasatch Mountain State Park with a very scenic 18-hole golf course and Nordic ski track and miles of mountain biking and hiking trails. Soldier Hollow State Park fills the southern border and was home to the 2002 Winter Olympic Games Nordic events. Soldier Hollow is highly regarded for its challenging cross-country terrain. In the warmer months, the Soldier Hollow golf course offers 36 holes of golf in the shadow of Mt. Timpanogos. At the center of town is Memorial Hill, a popular dog walking area that includes a 1-mile dirt road up a small knoll that offers commanding views and a lovely Memorial and parking area at the top that honors Heber Valley veterans. Access to the Provo River with its’ blue-ribbon fly fishing is convenient from the Olympic Legacy Bridge off Midway Lane. In addition to fishing, there’s a nice three mile off-leash dog walking trail loop especially popular with pups like mine who love to swim in the shallow riverbanks. The Homestead Resort offers the Crater Springs Golf Course and famous Homestead Crater Mineral Dome crater, popular for soaking, scuba diving and paddleboard yoga.
